RACING

ON THE RIVER
RACING
The sailing season is usually from the end of March through to mid-December. There is racing Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings for most of this period with racing confined to Sunday mornings for the first and last few weeks of the season.
Three main fleets sail regularly: Enterprise's, National 12's and OK's,
However other craft ranging from Lasers, Mirrors, Gulls, Toppers, some of which also take part in the racing, through to Wanderers, Drascombe Dabbers, Luggers and a variety of other unusual craft are also very welcome.
Races are also available every sailing day for any Portsmouth Yardstick boats, and all capabilities are welcomed from novices to experienced helms.
The Club has three dinghies available which may be hired by a member on a daily basis, but most members sail their own boats. These can be left at the Club throughout the year. Some covered storage is available.

LEISURE SAILING
Members may use their boats from the Club premises at any time and at their own risk, whether dinghies, skiffs, punts or canoes.

TRAINING
Informally, training can often be obtained from our members, or formally from a local RYA school.
Our top sailors run occasional classes in rigging, sail setting and tactics to help new members improve their skills.
Members also learn the duties of Officer of the Day, and take their turns at manning the safety boat.
